Since we get lots of questions about custom orders, I have sort of a standard explanation that I use to guide people through the process. I thought it might be fun to show you my standard answers in bold, followed by a real-world example of an actual custom order.

Typically, custom orders work like this:
1) You give us an idea of what you’d like to see on the shoes. It can be as specific (color samples, pictures for us to paint from, etc.) or as general as you like (a mood, or a basic theme).
In this case, Amy, the customer, told us she wanted Wizard of Oz-themed stilettos. She gave us a few images to work from, and a couple of scenes she wanted to be included. Over-all, though, she was pretty flexible and really wanted to see what Nicolle, the artist assigned to the project, would dream up.
2) We’ll price the shoes based on the complexity of the design, and then send you a custom payment link.
This one is as simple as it sounds. Once I’d narrowed down the basic design elements, I was able to price the order based on complexity and shoe style, and send Amy a link to her custom payment page.
3) Once we’ve received the order, the artist we assign to the shoes will create a sketch based on your requests for you to approve.

4) If the sketches look good, we’ll start painting!
Amy loved the sketches right out of the gate, so no revisions were needed in this case.
