Gifted artists.

What does a busy new company made up of artists and designers do for their holiday Secret Santa gift exchange?

We give each other paintings, of course.

In February.

Clockwise, from bottom left: hand-painted dresses by Hillary Garrett, cat on spalted maple by Lisa Ström, mouse-eating man by Debbie Faas, woman-on-elephant by Nicolle Stewart, birds by Rachel J. E. Sprague, little-girl-reading-book by Maya Vajra, girl-with-cat picture (part of a future painting) by Jeanie Lewis, Oprah by Kira Bundlie.

I won’t go into why each of these works of art was meaningful to the person who received them, but just know that a lot of thought went into each gift. There were hugs and laughter and maybe a few tears.

It’s been quite the year. No, not even year. Do you know that Hourglass has only been in business for seven months? Aaa! Needless to say, Lisa and I are very, very fortunate to work with such a cool bunch of people (thanks, guys).

All of us with the gifts we received.

Happy “holidays”!
