Last night, we got a group of Hourglass artists together at the studio to celebrate our Kickstarter success and decompress a bit before our big launch next month. It was relaxed and fun, and we laughed a lot as usual. We’ve got such a great team.
At one point, I had one of those warm and fuzzy, all-is-right-with-the-world moments where time seemed to change, just for a second, and allow me to really look around the room at the slow-motioned, smiling faces of my coworkers. In that instant, all of this became very real and felt exactly right.
Everything is so busy and overwhelming right now that just staying afloat in the sea of endless to-do lists seems way more immediate and important than smelling roses. The instinct is to wait until we’re not so busy and THEN enjoy this. And yes, we’ll cross some things off our lists, reach new milestones, etc., but I really don’t see the next few years slowing down for us. Like, at all.
And that’s okay. In fact, that’s great. But to hell with all the worrying. Time has proven to us over and over again that even the scariest, most challenging obstacles always work themselves out if we stay flexible. Why not enjoy–or at least be present for and appreciate–every bit of this awesome, weird ride we’re on? Not someday, but now?
Last night was a great reminder of just how far we’ve come, just how much we have to look forward to, and most importantly…just exactly how perfect right now is.
Thanks again, a million times over, to everyone who backed our Kickstarter campaign.
